There are a number of causes for stretch marks. Some of the common causes are pregnancy and sudden or rapid weight gain. Stretch marks are characterized by purplish-blue fine lines forming on the skin due to lack of elasticity within the deeper layers of the skin.

This is caused when the skin loses collagen that is the natural elastic material in the skin. There are creams to help rejuvenate the levels of collagen but another fact is Vitamin C will help boost the collagen production.

Some of the best stretch mark cream available includes 100% cocoa butter with Vitamin E oils and lanolin. The combination of the three substances helps to keep the skin soft and promotes higher levels of collagen in the skin.

You can make your own stretch mark cream by heating three tablespoons of grated cocoa butter until it becomes a creamy substance. Add one tablespoon of Vitamin E oil (in pure form not the diluted products), and combine in a jar.

Allow the mixture to cool before applying it to the skin.
After every shower or warm bath, exfoliate the skin to remove the dead skin cells that have built up on the skin’s surface naturally. Apply to the damp warm skin the cream so it can be absorbed and reach the deeper layers of the skin.

Massage in the cream to the stretch marks while the skin is still warm and damp. Use circular motions to gently rub into the areas. Massage the areas for up to two minutes so you stimulate the skin, promote new skin growth, and stimulate the collagen in the deeper layers of the skin.

Apply the stretch mark cream daily to the areas of the skin that has the marks or has the potential for the marks. The cocoa butter cream will soften the skin and add the skin the essential Vitamin E to help eliminate, reduce, or prevent the stretch marks.
